Kitchen Cabinet Makeovers

I am sure everyone would love a brand new top-of-the line kitchen with stunning and functional cabinets, but ripping out your existing cabinets and replacing them can cost a pretty penny, try some of these inexpensive DIY projects to make a big difference in their appearance.

5 Ways to Makeover Your Kitchen Cabinets For Less

You can find inexpensive cabinet knobs or handles at the home improvement stores, but  it’s also worth checking your local thrift stores to score big savings.

Paint the Cabinets

Jen at I Heart Organizing has a tutorial on painting cabinets to make the job a little easier.

And over at Lemonade there is an example of how to paint and distress your kitchen cabinets.

Add Cork

Adding cork to either the interior of the cabinets (Like they did at Young House Love) or the exterior could enhance the functionality and appearance of your plain Jane kitchen cabinets.

Chalk It Up

I am a huge fan of chalk board paint, and if you weren’t in the mood to repaint all of your cabinets, you could simply add a few coats of chalkboard paint to the front of your cabinets. This looks great in contrast on white cabinets, plus it gives you a great place to write family memos or meal plans. Here is an example from Better Homes & Gardens.

Add Molding

Over at How To Nest For Less and Girl In Air, you can get some inspiration for adding crown molding to your existing cabinets.
